Discussed during investment committees, these analyses are then used as basis for our dialogue and engagement (D&E) strategy. SWEN CP’s approach to engagement is a central axis of its responsible investment approach. This engagement is adapted according to each of its different investment strategies. SWEN CP’s D&E policy is being consolidated. It insists on the deployment of a climate strategy at the level of the management companies, and on the improvement of ESG key issues at the level of the companies. Specifically with regards to its ESG Markers : Environment, Value sharing, Connection to essential goods and services, Diversity. SWEN CP’s ESG database enables the team to track the sustainability performances of its GPs and underlying portfolio companies over time and compare them with the relevant benchmarks. On request, feedback are provided. SWEN CP has been holding the “ESG Best Practices Honours” event each year since 2014 in order to promote ESG and responsible investment practices. The event gathered more than 450 people in 2022. (https://www.swen-cp.fr/en/esg). SWEN CP developed an impact doctrine based on best market practices/standards which is applicable to all its impact strategies. ESG is at the heart of the investment strategies of its vehicles: whether by creating thematic impact funds (article 9 funds) or multi-strategy funds that integrate ESG in a robust manner such as ESG scoring thresholds (article 8 funds). SWEN CP uses clear and innovative metrics that are integrated in its analyses which include: carbon footprint measurements, impact analysis, SDGs and ESG scoring. It became a shareholder of the NECi, (Net Environmental Contribution Initiative, https://nec-initiative.org/) a collaborative platform that proposes the NEC metric as a new way to measure the environmental impact of economic activities. Private equity Infrastructure Primary investment Secondary transactions Impact ESG TEAM ASSETS UNDER MANAGEMENT €6,7Bn Climate-related risks are systematically analyzed throughout the investment cycle. They are at the heart of SWEN CP’s D&E policy. SWEN CP annually measures the carbon footprint of its funds. SWEN CP is a signatory of the “Initiative Climat International” and a member of its Operational Committee in France. Since 2017, SWEN CP has been allocating a fraction of its resources to “green assets” and applies a coal exclusion policy. SWEN CP’s climate strategy will be updated in 2022 and a policy on gas and fossil oil will be published. Julie OLIVIER ESG Direct & Impact Manager. Renaud SERRE-LAPERGUE ESG Multi-Strategy Manager. ESG ALL THROUGHOUT THE LIFE SPAN OF INVESTMENTS ESG, CLIMATE AND IMPACT STRATEGIES Our sustainability journey started back in 2013 with a strong conviction that we had a responsibility and an opportunity to allocate global savings through innovative and tailored financing solutions supporting real economy and accelerating necessary positive changes for the economy and the society. At Tikehau Capital, the ESG policy is embedded in the investment strategy and covers all the Group’s activities through four main pillars: exclusions, ESG integration, engagement and impact & sustainability-themed investments. We defined 4 priorities of actions: (i) Climate & Biodiversity, (ii) Innovation, (iii) Economic development and social inclusion and (iv) Health. The organization is supported by a strong and disciplined governance which operates at all levels of the company, from the supervisory board on strategy to dedicated operational task forces for each business. Tikehau Capital’s interests are strongly aligned with those of its clients. We are one of the only asset management firms to have committed more than €2 billion of our own balance sheet to the same strategies that we propose to our clients. The financing of the Group itself is strongly linked to sustainability criteria. Within our Impact platform, a fast-growing part of our investment and financing focus has been climate dedicated strategies to address the emergency of climate change and objectives set by Paris agreement. Our Group’s investment decisions are informed by the net zero roadmap defined by the International Energy Agency and the guidance of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) and the European taxonomy for sustainable activities. We also participate in leading international initiatives such as the One Planet Private Equity Funds and the Net Zero Asset Manager. To demonstrate our commitment to tackling the climate emergency in a holistic manner, Tikehau Capital launched the Climate Action Centre, a platform aimed at delivering competitive financial market returns while investing in decarbonisation across key sectors such as energy efficiency, low carbon mobility, clean energy and regenerative agriculture. By 2025, we aim to manage €5 billion in assets under management dedicated to climate and biodiversity.
